    This is an exciting opportunity to join the Domestic Abuse and Interpersonal Violence Team as we expand our existing service provision. In recognition of the prevalence and complexity of domestic abuse, we are growing our existing service provision and are recruiting to 9  newly developed Domestic Abuse Specialist Practitioner (DASP) posts.

    Each DASP will be based in one of Birmingham’s 10 Districts and will take a lead role in planning, delivering, and managing specialist domestic abuse group work programmes for families affected by domestic abuse. You may also hold a small caseload of complex families where domestic abuse risk is high, acting as the lead practitioner, and provide specialist advice and guidance to Early Help and Social Work colleagues.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Delivering a rolling programme of Domestic Abuse Training.
    • Providing specialist advice and guidance across the District.
    • Holding a small caseload of complex families where risk is high.
    • Planning and delivering group work programmes for families.
    • Contributing to evaluation reports to assess impact and outcomes.

    You will receive a full induction and be supported by your team and line manager to deliver excellent service provision in a creative and innovative way. We also offer access to ongoing professional development and training.

    We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.

    This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, so you must reside within a suitable commutable distance and have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to support sponsorship.


    About You

    You will have:

    • Extensive experience working in a domestic abuse setting.
    • A Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject.
    • A strong understanding of working with children, young people, and families.
    • The ability to identify risk and develop robust safety planning and disruption strategies.
    • Experience in safeguarding children and holding abusive parents to account.
    • Confidence in using a range of IT applications and databases.
    • Strong record-keeping skills and the ability to work autonomously.
    • A solution-focused approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

    You will also contribute to evaluation reports to help assess the impact and outcomes of this new role and inform future service development.
