• About The Role

  • Our Residential Children’s Homes are part of Birmingham Children’s Trust. We work with the most vulnerable children and their families, receiving support from colleagues within the Trust and external agency partners.

The Trust is thriving, recently inspected as GOOD, and aims to become a center of excellence in Social Care and family support. Our residential homes offer short breaks to children with disabilities and provide care for disabled children who cannot live with their families. We also have a home providing emergency care for children aged 8-17 years. All homes are registered with OFSTED, and the Trust is expanding its residential services.

This is an exciting time to join us, and we need talented individuals to help us continue to improve and grow our services. We offer full support, ongoing training, and development opportunities.

    The Role

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to work alongside the Home Manager at Bridgelands House. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading residential teams in settings for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties and a passion for achieving the best outcomes for children and their families.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and manage professional staff, setting clear directions and objectives.
    • Inspire others by acting with integrity.
    • Manage, build, and motivate residential teams, creating a positive environment that encourages open discussion and innovation.
    • Support performance, build capability, and empower staff.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • QCF Level 3 in Children and Families and QCF Level 5 or equivalent.
    • Willingness to undertake a range of training, including leadership and management training.
    • Ability to work shifts, weekends, and bank holidays as part of a 24-hour service.

    Benefits:

    • Enhanced night allowance of time and a third for hours worked between 8pm and 6am.

    Safeguarding

At Birmingham Children’s Trust, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Depending on the role, you may be asked to undergo the appropriate level of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess your suitability for working with children and young people.

The level of check (Standard, Enhanced, or Enhanced with Barred List) is determined based on the specific responsibilities of the role and the level of contact with children and young people.

We are committed to the fair treatment of all applicants, including those with criminal records. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar an individual from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the position and the circumstances and background of the offence.
