• About The Role

  • We are delighted to be recruiting for an Internal Recruiter to join our newly expanded Recruitment Team. This is a 12-month FTC to cover maternity leave and offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping our recruitment activity across the Trust.

As our Internal Recruiter, you will lead and manage a diverse range of recruitment campaigns, providing expert advice and guidance to hiring managers and ensuring a smooth, efficient, and candidate-focused recruitment process from vacancy approval through to onboarding.

Working closely with the Recruitment Partner, you will help to review and interpret recruitment data, identify trends or areas for improvement, and contribute creative ideas to enhance our recruitment practices. You will be a key ambassador for Birmingham Children’s Trust, actively promoting our employer brand and ensuring every candidate receives a positive and professional experience.

A key part of the role will be maintaining clear, timely communication with both candidates and stakeholders, ensuring recruitment queries are resolved promptly and that the journey from application to appointment is well-coordinated and compliant.

You will also utilise digital platforms—such as LinkedIn, Indeed and talent pools—to attract high-quality candidates, particularly for hard-to-fill roles. You will be confident in engaging with candidates to promote our vacancies, develop relationships and enhance the name of Birmingham Children's Trust.

Birmingham Children’s Trust is proud to have been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2023, recognising our strong leadership, partnership working, safeguarding practice, and commitment to improving outcomes for children and families.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, and applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship.

    About You

We are looking for someone who can bring:

    • Significant recruitment experience, either in-house or agency.
    • Strong ATS experience, with the ability to manage workflows, interpret recruitment data, and recommend process improvements.
    • Knowledge and experience of completing background and compliance checks, including Right to Work, DBS, DBS Update Service, and issuing Experian screening.
    • Proven ability to direct source candidates using a variety of methods and digital platforms.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence in advising managers and supporting candidates.
    • Experience managing high-volume recruitment, ideally within social care or a similar sector.
    • Sound knowledge and understanding of EDI. You will have the ability to embed and promote EDI, championing equality opportunities for all candidates and challenging unconscious bias to help educate our recruiting managers on best practices.
    • A solid understanding of recruitment legislation, policies, and best practice.
    • Confidence in using social media and digital tools for talent attraction and employer branding.

    Additional Information:

Interview date: WC 26th January 2026, via Microsoft Teams. Immediate start is preferred.

Onboarding Process: Please note as part of our onboarding process, the successful candidate will be required undergo a series of background checks with Experian Including Experian Right to Work, and Digital ID verification. These are essential pre-employment requirements.

    Our Benefits:

    Why Join Us?

    • Impactful Work - be part of a team that makes a real difference in the lives of the city’s most vulnerable children.
    • Supportive Environment - enjoy a supportive and collaborative work culture where your contributions are valued.

We are committed to using our resources wisely, ensuring that every penny is spent where it counts the most. We foster collaboration among schools, health professionals, and the police, working together to create a supportive network for our young people.

We believe that when we work as one cohesive team, the children and young people of Birmingham are more likely to thrive. Our unified approach ensures that we provide the best possible support and opportunities for their growth and development.

    Safeguarding

At Birmingham Children’s Trust, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Depending on the role, you may be asked to undergo the appropriate level of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess your suitability for working with children and young people.

The level of check (Standard, Enhanced, or Enhanced with Barred List) is determined based on the specific responsibilities of the role and the level of contact with children and young people.

We are committed to the fair treatment of all applicants, including those with criminal records. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar an individual from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the position and the circumstances and background of the offence.

Please note that we reserve the right to close the job early should we reach the required number of applications, therefore please ensure you submit your application and supporting statement early to avoid any disappointment.
