• About The Role

  • We have an exciting opportunity within our Business Support Service for a self-motivated Business Support Assistant (BSA), providing essential support to our Child Protection Conferencing (CPC) Service.

CPC Business Support plays a crucial role in supporting children and families when Child Protection Conferences are required to bring together professionals and partner agencies to share information and make decisions about how to keep children safe. The team supports the full conference process, from arranging meetings and preparing documentation through to recording outcomes and distributing information following conferences.

Conference Convening: You will work closely with Conference Chairs, Social Workers and partner agencies to ensure conferences are arranged within statutory timescales. This will involve managing diaries, arranging meetings, issuing invitations, maintaining accurate records and updating case management systems. You will also be responsible for managing a busy shared inbox and responding to enquiries from professionals and service users.

Post Conference: Tasks include ensuring that conference outcomes are accurately recorded, quality checked and distributed within statutory timescales. The team is responsible issuing conference minutes, Child Protection Plans and outcome documentation, maintaining accurate records on case management systems, ensuring children, families and key stakeholders receive the information they require. Working closely with Conference Chairs, Social Workers and multi-agency partners, ensuring timely, accurate and high-quality information management throughout the child protection process.

This is a varied and rewarding role. We are looking for someone who takes pride in delivering a high-quality service, is willing to learn, embraces new challenges and can work flexibly to support the wider team. In return, you will join a supportive service committed to developing staff through training, learning opportunities and cross-team working.

Whilst there is opportunity for agreed home working, the service operates across the city and staff are expected to work flexibly between office locations and conference venues as required by the needs of the service. The successful candidate must therefore be able to travel across Birmingham, including supporting both North and South conference venues when required.

We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.

You must have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
    • The ability to work independently using your own initiative whilst contributing positively to a team environment.
    • A flexible approach to work, including a willingness to learn new processes, undertake cross training and support colleagues, to provide cover across the different areas and tasks within the team.
    • The ability to adapt positively to changing business needs and service demands.
Experience of working within accuracy driven administrative, business support or customer-focused environments.
