• About The Role

  • We are looking to recruit a Business Support Administrator on a full-time (36.5 hours) basis to join our Business Support Service team, playing a key role in supporting the effective delivery of the Youth Justice Service.

In this role, you will provide essential administrative support to practitioners working with children, young people and families. Working closely with colleagues and partner agencies, you will help ensure the smooth operation of the service and contribute to achieving positive outcomes for some of Birmingham's most vulnerable young people.

In addition to a range of general administrative duties, you will support the Youth Justice Service Court Team, which is based at Birmingham Magistrates' Court. This will involve working collaboratively with colleagues and multi-agency professionals across the service to support the delivery of high-quality, effective interventions.

We are looking for an organised and proactive individual who can use their initiative, solve problems effectively and manage competing priorities. You will have excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering a high standard of customer service. Experience of using Outputs is desirable; however, full training will be provided.

    About You

You will be a ‘can-do' person, who is passionate about high quality service delivery and performance.  You will be able to work effectively within a dedicated team environment, be customer focused and able to deliver the role with a flexible approach.

    We’re looking for someone who:

    • Can take accurate notes during meetings, record actions clearly, and distribute them promptly (training will be provided).
    • Has excellent attention to detail and strong literacy and numeracy skills.
    • Works proactively and independently, taking initiative to ensure business objectives are achieved.
    • Can work flexibly as part of a diverse team, providing cover when needed and multitasking across roles and locations to maintain seamless service delivery.
    • Can manage competing priorities effectively, adapting to changing demands while supporting business objectives, including reception duties.

Although Birmingham Children's Trust operate a hybrid working model, this Business Support role is to support Youth Justice Service and as the Youth Justice Service is a citywide service this role will require flexibility to cover locations across the city.

    Our Benefits:

    • A generous annual leave package of 30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 5 years of service and 35 days after 10 years of service.
    • Free on-site parking at our offices on One Avenue Road (Aston) and Lifford House (Stirchley). We also provide onsite electric car charging ports which are free to use!
    • Full access to our amazing internal employee benefits scheme including, Occupational Health services, Rewards Schemes, Benefits discounts (including the Blue Light Card), Health & Fitness and Personal Wellbeing support and much more!
    • Flexible working policy - we are well adapted to a flexible model of working which includes a combination of time spent in the office and at home and we offer a variety of working patterns.
    • Pension Scheme - You will receive a generous local government career average pension scheme in line with the local government pension scheme.
    • We are proud to be an Equal Opportunities Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit.
We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.

    Why Join Us?

Depending on the role, you may be asked to undergo the appropriate level of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess your suitability for working with children and young people.

The level of check (Standard, Enhanced, or Enhanced with Barred List) is determined based on the specific responsibilities of the role and the level of contact with children and young people.

We are committed to the fair treatment of all applicants, including those with criminal records. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar an individual from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the position and the circumstances and background of the offence.

Please note that we reserve the right to close the job early should we reach the required number of applications, therefore please ensure you submit your application and supporting statement early to avoid any disappointment.
