Our Directorates

Finance & Resource

Our Finance and Resource directorate plays a crucial role in ensuring that resources are effectively allocated to support the well-being and development of children. Responsible for several key functions including financial management, strategic planning, human resources, business support and legal services.

By overseeing financial operations and resource distribution, the directorate helps to create a stable and supportive environment for children, enabling social care professionals to focus on delivering high-quality care and support to those in need.

Help & Protection

Our Help and Protection Directorate is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and encompasses several key services and initiatives including Children's Advice and Support Services (CASS) which provides a single point of contact for professional and public to raise concerns about a child’s safety and wellbeing.

Early Help offers voluntary support to children and families, looking to address needs early on whilst Safeguarding and Child Protection ensures that children at risk of harm receive timely and effective protection.

Help and Protection services work collaboratively to ensure that children in Birmingham are safe, supported, and able to thrive.

Corporate Parenting

At Birmingham Children’s Trust, we take pride in our role as corporate parents. As the largest local authority in one of Europe’s youngest and most diverse cities, we are dedicated to the well-being of our children in care and care-experienced young people. This responsibility is shared collectively across our city.

Corporate Parenting means being the ‘best parent’ we can be to our children in care and those with care experience. This involves ensuring they are safe, loved, happy, healthy, and thriving. We have high aspirations for our children and young people, and it’s a collaborative effort across the city to support their achievements and success.

Quality Assurance

The Quality Assurance framework at Birmingham Children’s Trust is designed to ensure that children and families receive the highest standard of care and support.

The Trust is committed to ongoing service improvement, ensuring that the right help is provided at the right time. This involves regular evaluations and feedback from children, parents, and carers.

Everyone in the Trust is responsible for quality assurance, from front-line social workers to senior management. This collective responsibility ensures that all practices are regularly reviewed and improved.

Completing your ASYE with Birmingham Children’s Trust is more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to grow, learn, and make a meaningful impact.

This includes large contracts as well as individual bespoke services including targeted support for children with specific needs, such as those with disabilities or those requiring therapeutic interventions.
