• About The Role

  • Do you have a passion for care leavers and helping young people to succeed?  Do you bring skills and experience of working with young people to meet their goals and aspirations?

     In this role you will:

    • Support young people to develop their independent living skills and to be successfully engaged in education, training and employment.
    • Undertake regular visits and work collaboratively with young people and those supporting them within the framework of their pathway plan.
    • Provide young person-focused support to ensure our care leavers achieve their ambitions and realise their highest potential.
    • Work as part of a supportive team to provide a high quality service to all of our young people

Our Care Leavers Service is one of the nation’s biggest and supports care experienced young adults in their transition from care to independence.

Our priority is to support and enable our care experienced young adults to realise their aspiration and ambition and have a sense of feeling cared for, cared about, and able to care for themselves. Championing their voice as corporate parents is central to all that we do and achieve with them.

    Connections Count

At Birmingham Children's Trust our trust-wide practice model is Connections Count where relationships are pivotal in how we work.

    • Are you committed to a systemic, strength-based, relationship and solution-focused practice model?
    • Can you contextualise the needs of care leavers through a trauma informed / adverse childhood experiences lens?
We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham and have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.

    Safeguarding

At Birmingham Children’s Trust, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Depending on the role, you may be asked to undergo the appropriate level of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess your suitability for working with children and young people.

The level of check (Standard, Enhanced, or Enhanced with Barred List) is determined based on the specific responsibilities of the role and the level of contact with children and young people.

We are committed to the fair treatment of all applicants, including those with criminal records. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar an individual from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the position and the circumstances and background of the offence.

Please note that we reserve the right to close the job early should we reach the required number of applications, therefore please ensure you submit your application and supporting statement early to avoid any disappointment.
